Juniorettes

The GFWC Oviedo Juniorettes were founded in 1990. After seeing the need for a community service organization for young women, the GFWC Oviedo Woman's Club chose to sponsor the club. An invitation to interested perspective members was issued through Oviedo High School.

The girls selected the tulip as their club flower and purple and green as the club colors. Over the years many service projects have been completed, including helping the Woman's Club with Great Day in the Country and the Annual Tasting Luncheon.

Their special projects include establishing a children's library at the Orlando Coalition for the Homeless, preparing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, collecting dimes for March of Dimes, providing needed items for the Hacienda Girls Ranch, and most recently donating time, labor and materials to the renovation of the Hacienda Girls Ranch.

The Juniorettes meet once a month at the Oviedo Woman's Club clubhouse.

Programs sponsored have included:

·  Self-defense courses
·  Etiquette and manners
·  Beauty make-overs
·  Career planning
·  Education opportunities for young women
