Community Service Programs

Arts and Culture - The Arts and Culture Community Service Program encourages members to educate, engage, and empower with projects in our club, schools, and the community.

Civic Engagement and Outreach - The Civic Engagement and Outreach Community Service Program connects members and the community with projects and activities relating to citizenship, crime prevention, safety, and disaster preparedness. There is an emphasis on the needy, hungry, and homeless.

Education and Libraries - The Education and Libraries Community Service Program designs and supports education activities in the community with a focus on literacy, including support of libraries. This group helps award the OWC annual education grants.

Environment - The Environment Community Service Program encourages awareness to preserve resources, protect wildlife and domesticated animals, to live sustainably, to beautify communities, and enjoy nature.

Health and Wellness - The Health and Wellness Community Service Program informs members and the community about disease prevention, nutrition, physical well-being, and emotional care.

Special Projects - Currently we are supporting Project Linus whose mission is to provide new, handmade security blankets to children in need, specifically those who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Members of OWC create items that provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

Special Projects - We are continuing to support Christmas Boxes of Love where age and gender specific items are collected by membership, sorted and boxed, then distributed in partnership with community organizations to those in need.

Special Projects - This year we are focusing on Domestic Violence Awareness - Our goal is to increase awareness to help prevent the wide-spread occurrence of domestic abuse in communities across the nation.

Special Projects - This year we are continuing to support GFWC Florida's special project, Flight to Honor. The President chose to identify, fundraise and send our GFWC Florida veterans and their "Guardians" on an Honor Flight to help them see the memorials in place in Washington DC in their honor. A stop at the Military Women's Memorial will be one of the highlights of the one day only trip scheduled for March 11, 2026.
